Teaching aims:

the importance and necessity of friends.

know the meaning of the special friend of Anne.

how to make good friends and enlarge the friends’ circle.

Teaching important points:

the words and expressions of this passage.

the main idea of the passage.

Why the diary is Anne’s best friend

Teaching difficult points

Why Anne choose the diary her best friend?

If you were in the situation the same as Anne, what/who would you choose as your friend?

share some tips to make good friends.

Teaching procedures:

lead in: 5 minutes: questions— Do you have friends and say something about them, then tell other students who is your best friend, can you guess who/what is Anne’s best friend after the introduction of the passage.

the passage:

read the passage in 10 minutes and share the main idea of the passage with your partners in group.

share your feelings after reading the diary after reading it again in 10 minutes.

open question and discuss in 10 minutes: If you were in the situation the same as Anne, what/who would you choose as your friend? And tell others the reason.

Make a short conclusion to think further about the definition of the true friends in 5 minutes.

Conclusion: ask students to talk over some tips about how to make good friends.

Teaching reflection:

Because of the specialty of the passage, we should tell the students the background of the passage. After that, the students will know the passage with the help of the background.
