Unit 3 I am more outgoing than my sister.

(Section A 1a-1c)

Teaching Aims:

1. Knowledge Objects:

(1) Function:Learn how to compare people

(2) Key vocabulary: outgoing, better, loudly, quietly

(3) Target language: I am more outgoing than my sister.

Sam has longer hair than Tom.

She also sings more loudly than Tara.

Sam plays them better than Tom.

2. Ability Objects:

(1) Develop the ability to talk about personal traits.

(2) Compare people with the comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs.

3. Moral objects:

(1) Encourage students to discover other students’ strong points.

(2) Learn from each other and remedy for their weak points.

2. Master the rules of comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs.

How to use the comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs when you want to describe a person or to compare two people.

Teaching Procedures:

Step 1 Show time

Sing an English song.

(学习英文歌曲可以让学生对英语产生兴趣,扩大学生的词汇量。同时也可以活跃课堂气氛。)

Step 2 Leading in

I will divide my students into four groups – Panda Group, Tiger group, Snake Group and Monkey Group. If the students know the answer to my questions, please put up their hands. And if they answer my question correctly, I will give them a gift. At the end of this class, I will choose which group is the best and which group is the worst. I will ask the worst group to sing an English for us.

Then I will show some groups of pictures and use comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs to describe them. After two groups, I will ask students to fill in the blanks.

(将学生分成小组比赛,有助于增强学生的积极性和参与度。比较图片,从教师陈述到学生填空,由易到难,一步步引导学生发现比较级的特点。)

Step 3 Practice

Show another four groups of pictures, let students try to practice using comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs to describe people according to my prompts.

(让学生由输入到输出,根据前面所学内容,模仿造句。学习运用比较级造句是本单元的重点,让学生从单词填空到完整地说句子,熟悉比较级句型。)

Step 4 Summary

Help students to summary the rules of comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs.

(通过前面各组图片的比较、学生造句以及教师展示,学生可以很清晰地看到比较级的几种变换规则,运用之后一起帮助学生总结归纳,会给学生留下深刻的印象。)

Step 5 Play a game

Show some comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs, let students judge whether they are right or wrong. If it is right, please put up your right hand. If it is wrong, please put up your left hand. And give me the right answer.

(以上的学习,学生难免觉得疲惫,那么是时候来做一个小游戏来活跃一下课堂气氛,全员都可以参与其中。既可以提高学生的注意力,同时也可以检查出学生是否掌握了形容词、副词的比较级变换规则。)

Step 6 Do 1a

Finish 1a and check the answers together. Then ask students to write their comparative forms.

Then write the comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs besides these words.

(让学生完成课本的内容之外,请同学们来说出这些形容词和副词的比较级,并要求学生和老师一起拼写出来,教师板书。这样可以加深学生对比较级变换的规则,并且让学生学以致用。)

Step 7 Do 1b

1. Listen to the tape and finish 1b and check the answers.

2. Listen again and fill in the blanks.

3. Listen and repeat.

(听力部分除了完成课本1b,我还添加了填词部分。请同学们根据所听到的内容,填写出句中比较级部分。除了练习听力技能,也能让学生更加熟悉形容词和副词的比较级,为后面的对话练习打好基础。接着,让学生跟读,可以帮助学生掌握比较级的发音。)

Step 8 Pair work

Read the conversation in 1c.

And then shows a picture of twins, let students make new conversations.

Invite some groups to show us in front of class.

(对话截取自听力材料,学生对此很熟悉。让学生跟读、分组读、男女生读之后,展示出一对不一样的双胞胎,请学生说出她们之间的不同之处。然后让学生两人一组编出对话,最后邀请学生展示,可以让学生自信地将所学内容表现出来。)

Step 9 Chant

Panda: Heavier Heavier I'm heavier than you.

Tiger: Stronger Stronger I'm stronger than you.

Snake: Thinner Thinner I'm thinner than you.

Monkey: Outgoing Outgoing I'm more outgoing than you.

(让学生跟着老师唱出材料内容,然后让各小组配上动作合作完成说唱。所选单词包含了形容词的四种变换规则,帮助学生更容易、更轻松地记住这节课的重点,如何变换形容词的比较级。)

Step 10 Group work

Write some sentences to describe “My friend and I” by using the comparative forms of adjectives and adverbs.

Words: outgoing / quiet

old / young

heavy / thin

tall / short

long hair / short hair

......

Let students exchange the paper with your partner, and check whether the sentences are right. Then I will choose some sentences, discuss them with students.

(这节课的最后,让学生动笔将这节课所学的内容写出来,可以直观地反映出这节课学生是否掌握了形容词、副词的变换规则。让学生自己先批改一遍,可以让学生在纠错的同时,再一次地复习。然后老师也可以就学生的错误,进行针对性的讲解。)

Step 11 Homework

Make conversations with your partner

Write a short passage about you and another person, you can write about your sister, brother and so on.

教学反思:这节课是一节听说课,学习的内容是形容词和副词的比较级的用法。本课以英文歌曲入手,激发学生对英语的兴趣。把比赛搬入课堂,增强学生的参与度。在讲述过程中,先由教师陈述,再让学生由词语到句子,引导学生比较、运用形容词的比较级。接着和学生一起总结变换规则,给学生留下深刻的印象。课本部分1a和1b部分,添加了让学生书写的部分。之后的chant部分,所选的单词符合形容词、副词的变换规则,帮助学生记忆。本节课教学环节,循序渐进,学生很积极参与度高。但是过于紧凑,部分环节时间较短。
