Teaching plan

Topic :Grammer----Attributive clause revision

Ⅰ. Teaching Aims

1. Knowledge Objects

To help the students review the relative pronouns ,including which, who ,that, whom, where, when, why and have a clear idea of the concept of the grammar item.

2. Ability Objects

To help the students practice the skills at describing the people and further develop the ability in communication especially when the attributive clause is used.

3. Moral Object

To help the students form the habit of independent learning and become willing to cooperate with the members in the group activity.

Ⅱ. Teaching Key and difficult Points

Distinguish the relative pronouns and relative adverb “who, whom, that, which, whose, when, where”.

III. Teaching Procedures

Step 1.lead-in

1.Show some pictures of animals and ask students to make a conversation: “A. What kind of animals do you like best? Why? ” “ B. I likeXXXXXbecauseXXXXX, How about you?” “ A: XXXXX”请同学对话表演后,师适时用含有定语从句的句子归纳总结。如:“Oh ,I see, A likes animals that are friendly best but B likes animals that are clever best.”

2.用多媒体出示中央电视台四位著名主持人的图片及要求“They are famous hosts in CCTV. Do you know Who they are? Which one do you like best? Why? Make up a conversation with your partners.”在学生对话交流后,师再与两生对话,并引导学生们说出 “B likes the host who is humor but C likes the host who is smart.”等之类含有定语从句的句子。

Step 2. Relative pronoun

1.通过以上练习,使学生对定语从句有了初步的印象,然后趁热打铁,图示 1). They are cats. They have white hair.

They are cats which/that have whie hair.

2). This is an English book . We use it in our English class.

This is an English book which/that/- we use in our English class.

2.Conclusion

当先行词指物时,关系代词用which/that. 做宾语可以省略

3. 图示 1)The girl is reading. I don’t know the girl.

I don’t know the girl who is reading.

2) Guess: who is he?

4. Conclusion

先行词指人时,关系代词用who,that,whom. 做宾语可以省略

5. whose 引导定语从句做定语,指人的或物的。不能省略

6. 关系代词引导的定语从句应注意的几点情况

Step 3 Relative adverbs

where

图示 This is Hawaii. The beaches are beautiful in Hawaii.

This is Hawaii where the beaches are beautiful.

when

I will never forget the day. I joined the army on that day.

I will never forget the day when I joined the army.

3. why

Eg. The reason why I’m calling you is to invite you to a party

conclusion 关系副词有三种:

where:在从句中作地点状语,指代地点. ( on/in/atXXXXXwhich)

when: 在从句中作时间状语,指代时间。(on/ inXXXXXwhich)

why: 在从句中作原因状语,指代原因。 the reason why

Step 4. relative pronoun and relative adverb

关系词判断步骤:

首先,要找先行词。(人,物,地点,时间,原因)

然后,确定关系词在从句中的成分。(主语,宾语,状语)
