—Introduction to Famous People Part 1 Analysis of teaching materials Themed world records, this unit mainly focuses on Ashrita Furman, a record holder of several Guinness events in the world.

Besides, this unit also probes into the necessary qualities needed to be a record holder, including robust body, mental strength, creative awareness and strong will. Part 1 Analysis of teaching materials In warming up, four pictures are provided for students to get familiar with conventional sports events and excellent athletes.

In pre-reading, students are exposed to six unconventional sports events so that they are prepared to predict the reading passage on Ashrita Furman.

In reading, the passage is mainly concerned with Ashrita Furman’s achievements, growing-up experiences as well as mental motivation. Part 1 Analysis of teaching materials In addition, supplement exercises are designed in Comprehending and Learning about Languages sections to help students to master reading skills, vocabulary and review grammar- subject in this unit.

Different from compulsory modules, all parts in this unit will be integrated into two periods, that is to say Period One: Warming up Pre-reading and Reading; Period Two: Learning about Languages (useful words, expressions and structures). Part 1 Analysis of teaching materials1. Having finished eight modules in the first two years, senior 3 students have a relatively excellent command of listening, speaking, reading, viewing(看), and writing in English.

2. For one thing, they not only show a keen interest in things around them, but also hold diverse views of their own.

3. For another thing, by no means are they learning English simply for exams, they also desire to learn English in the so called learn-in-use way, combining education with fun.

4. Equipped with enough sports knowledge, students are eager to learn this unit with great enthusiasm.
